Everyone's got something to say, but can you say it in five minutes? We'd like to give you the chance to take the stage and share your vision in 300 seconds. That's right, you've got just 5 minutes be it in photos (limit of 20) or multimedia. Digital Image Guidelines Volunteers If you would like to volunteer we could use help setting up chairs and taking them down. Maybe someone would like to coordinate food. Just let me know. Together we can make this a fun time for all.
Suggestions Elevator Speech Goal What do you want your audience to take away from your 5 minutes? Tony Compollo wrote a book It’s Friday but Sunday’s Coming. Here is audio recording of that message http://www.tonycampolo.org/mp3/itsfriday.htm It is 45 minutes, but the main thing is the title in itself is the message. Tony Compollo goes on to give stories to support his theme. Audience Capacity The audience will most likely only remember 1 point from your presentation. So, it is better to have 1 point which you use different things to illustrate your point than a string of points. Rehearse For years I have been involved in putting photography programs together where we are recruiting speakers. What is really sad is so many of these photographers show up on the day of the event and think they can just pull images from folders on their computer and then just start talking to the group. The best presentations are the ones where the photographer has practiced their presentation with an audience of their friends/family and taken their feedback to refine the presentation. Resource One of the best resources you have is educators. They have been taught how to prepare a lesson plan (goals and objectives) and would make some of the best test audiences for your material.
Topic: Your Work Please plan to bring some of your work to share with everyone. Please plan for projecting your images 1024x768 pixels. You will have about 5 – 10 minutes to share what you have been doing with everyone. Current list of those presenting: send stanley@stanleyleary.com email to ad your name to the list of presenters.
